Deadline to apply: March 4, 2022 11:59pm PST

vAct is seeking an Emerging Dramaturg to join the MSG Lab team. The MSG Lab is a new work development program for Asian Canadian playwrights. This paid position is a hands-on learning experience propelling the individual’s dramaturgical career. The Emerging Dramaturg will be working with vAct Dramaturgs during Block V, a playwriting workshop for MSG Lab playwrights during May – June of 2022, and working one on one with a playwright from the cohort to develop the project during the fall and winter of 2022/23. The Emerging Dramaturg will be required to work approximately 85 hours between April 2022 – January 2023 and receive a $3000 stipend for their work. The work includes: the adjudication of proposals, Block V, and dramaturgical work in the fall/winter. In response to COVID-19, workshops, meetings, and readings will take place online until in-person gatherings are permitted and feasible.

Representation matters in all roles of art making. vAct is dedicated to inclusive and equitable practices by increasing the number of under-represented individuals in every role involved in play making including: producers, directors, and dramaturgs. We believe diverse perspectives in our community enriches the artistic process and expands our understanding of the world. By increasing the number of diverse voices in our community, we can better support our playwrights. Artists living with disabilities, 2SLGTQI2+, and/or IBPOC artists are encouraged to apply.
