2021-22 MSG Emerging Dramaturg Application now open

Deadline to apply: March 5, 2021 11:59pm PST

vAct is now taking submissions for the Emerging Dramaturg position for the MSG Lab, a new play development program for Asian Canadian playwrights produced in association with Playwrights Theatre Centre (PTC). This paid position is a hands-on learning experience propelling the individual from emerging to professional dramaturg. The Emerging Dramaturg will be working with PTC Dramaturgs during Block V, a playwriting workshop for MSG Lab playwrights during the summer of 2021, and working one on one with a playwright from the cohort to develop the script during the fall and winter of 2021/22. The Emerging Dramaturg will receive a $2500 stipend for their work. In response to COVID-19 workshops, meetings, and readings will take place online until in-person gatherings are permitted.

Representation matters in all roles of art making. vAct is dedicated to inclusive and equitable practices by increasing the number of under-represented individuals in every role involved in play making including: producers, directors and dramaturgs. We believe diverse perspectives in our community enriches the artistic process and expands our understanding of the world. By increasing the number of diverse voices in our community, we can better support our playwrights. Artists living with disabilities, 2SLGTQI2+, and/or IBPOC artists are encouraged to apply.

Must be available in April 2021 to be part of MSG play selection committee.
