Hosted by Artistic Director Derek Chan, this curated event offers local artists a platform for expression through music, poetry, and storytelling. They will each contribute to a broader and increasingly necessary conversation on freedom, democracy, and the challenge of our shared human experience. Through the connective power of performance, this event intends to build resource and resilience, orienting us towards the actions that make collective liberation possible. This event will be hosted at Notional Space, which offers itself as a home for creatives that are bringing depth and vibrancy to our local community.
This is more than just a gathering; it’s a step towards understanding and solidarity, where we can begin to imagine and work towards a future where freedom and democracy for all peoples is fully realized.
Accessibility:
Notional Space is down half-a-flight of stairs if accessed from the front door entry. They are on-grade at the rear of the building, however, and will provide access and assistance through the rear to anyone who requests it. If you don’t already have one of their personal telephone numbers (or that of someone you know will reach Notional Space ahead of you), contact us in advance to make arrangements. Their rear entrance is in the laneway between Hastings and Pender, directly opposite the parking entry for the Bohême condos and shops.
This in-person event has limited space. Please let us know at info@vact.ca right away if you are no longer able to attend, ideally NOT the day, so we can release your spot to other folks looking to attend Voices for Freedom and Democracy.
