About the Show
Abby Chung, a Public Trustee investigator, is assigned to the case of Beatrice, an elderly woman who has died alone without any apparent family or relatives. As Abby uncovers more about Beatrice’s solitary existence, her own life begins to unravel as she attempts to balance the demands of her isolated elderly mother and of her long-term partner, while also trying to understand her growing obsession with finding any next-of-kin for Beatrice. Exploring themes of mortality and family legacy, The Ones We Leave Behind ultimately offers a message of hope in finding connection to others, and reminds us of our human fragility.
