A premiere production by Zahida Rahemtulla (The Wrong Bashir).
This new comedic drama takes audiences to an East Vancouver hotel in early 2016 where three beleaguered employees scramble to find homes for new families from Syria in the midst of a housing crisis.

The Frontliners was originally developed by the Arts Club Theatre Company, Vancouver, British Columbia as a part of their Emerging Playwrights’ Unit in 2019 with dramaturgy by Stephen Drover. It later received the Fringe New Play Prize and was developed with Playwrights Theatre Centre (PTC) for two years through the 2021-22 New Play in Development Prize. A workshop production of The Frontliners was a special presentation at the 2022 Vancouver Fringe Festival, in association with Playwrights Theatre Centre with dramaturgy by Davey Samuel Calderon.

We extend our thanks for the collaboration and support of Ruby Slippers Theatre and their Artist Residency Program and the Silk Road Institute for their invaluable support and collaboration on The Frontliners. We also gratefully acknowledge the support of Canada Council for the Arts and BC Arts Council. Finally, this work was made possible through the generous contributions of Bonnie Mah.
